HISTORY
Tirohana Estate was purchased by the Raymond Thompson
Family Trust from Gary and Annette Voss. Gary and Annette
first planted the world famous vines in 1988 and have
produced some memorable award winning vintages which are
enjoyed both domestically in New Zealand as well as being
exported around the world.
Raymond Thompson has always enjoyed New Zealand and the
Wairarapa region as a refuge from his hectic activities in
the global film and television industries and visits the
area on occasion almost as a getaway. Raymond was long an
admirer of the range of wines produced by Voss Estate and
was really thrilled to be in the position to acquire the
Voss Estate home block.
Voss Estate of course still trades as its own entity and
the team at Tirohana Estate look forward to introducing a
range of boutique wines under a new brand produced from the
unique soil of the “Golden Mile” in Martinborough and to
offering a quality brand to be enjoyed from the wine
connoisseur to new enthusiasts.
