We go to the Cellar Door at the Tirohana Estate, owned by Cloud 9 film company founder Raymond Thompson. Toby James, Thompson’s son-in-law, has just thrown another log on the fire. We have a nourishing three-course lunch, enlivened by the presence of a convivial table of the local gentry. The highlight: Tirohana’s rich and silky-smooth 2006 pinot noir, and a taste of the even better 2007 vintage.
