Guests who stay at Tirohana enjoy the benefit of the vineyard house, including its living room, dining room, open-plan kitchen, laundry room facilities, wraparound verandah and deck, outdoor spaces to sit… And, of course, the benefit of staying on an award-winning vineyard winery so close in the heart of Martinborough’s famous wine region.
Tirohana is one of the older vineyards and is located centrally on the Martinborough terroir, with spectacular views to be enjoyed from inside the house or in the outdoors verandah, with plenty of seating options available (and photogenic views of the vines, countryside and hills).
Accommodation packages offer very good value and can include a dinner for guests who stay in the award-winning Tirohana Cellars restaurant (just a short stroll away from the main vineyard house) as well as a wine talk and tasting experience in the atmospheric cellar door.
Guests who stay have a ‘private’ stay and those guests booked into the party do not share with anyone else (in the sense as can sometimes occur in an airbnb accommodation type property which may have separate bookings sharing areas of accommodation at the same time).
There are also flexible options for accommodation with twin-bed configurations, Queen and double beds, as well as rollaway options for those looking to book Martinborough accommodation stays for larger groups (with rollaway beds, the house can accommodate up to 16 guests).
Martinborough is of course a fantastic place to visit (and even better, a place to stay 🙂 ) being a unique New Zealand wine ‘village’ where you can walk or cycle from one vineyard to another, enjoying and sampling what each has to offer.
Tirohana house offers a different type of stay as it is one of very few properties with accommodation on its own actual working vineyard so guests get to ‘feel’ and experience what it is to be on a boutique New Zealand vineyard throughout the seasons, and to see the vines in different conditions (from the pruning days in winter to the harvest time in March and April).
There are many places to stay in Martinborough including Martinborough hotels, motels, resorts, homestay holiday homes and cottages. If you were looking for accommodating a very large group (with up to 16 guests staying at Tirohana but, for instance, you needed even more space for other guests in your booking), we are happy to recommend other providers who may suit your requirements (or in the event if Tirohana Colonial House was already booked on your preferred dates of stay).
Overlooking the vines and surrounded by nature and the natural world, the only choice left is what to choose to do… you can sit back with a glass of wine… or enjoy a dinner or meal during the day at our award-winning vineyard restaurant. It’s just a very short walk to our cellar door, Emporium and boutique restaurant and just a few minutes walk from Tirohana to the Martinborough village, shops and other sites. Or, base yourself at Tirohana in the heart of Martinborough to then explore the boutique shops in Greytown, or a cycle ride or drive through the countryside, a visit to Carterton or Masterton… the choice is your’s… with so much to see and do in the Wairarapa, all throughout the year.
